RENVLO is a private writing instrument. It encrypts your notes locally, works entirely offline, and requires no account, no cloud, and no sync. We have no access to your data. We cannot read it, recover it, or share it.
This is not a service. It is a tool you own.
Architecture
Most note applications run on cloud infrastructure. They require accounts, store your data on remote servers, and depend on network connectivity. RENVLO removes all of this. The result is a writing instrument with no external dependencies and no attack surface beyond the device itself.
Storage
Device-only. No cloud.
Encryption
On-device. Zero-knowledge.
Network
Not required. Ever.
Accounts
None. No sign-up.
Sync
Deliberately absent.
AI Features
None. Deterministic only.
The Instrument
RENVLO's interface reflects its architecture. There are no settings menus with dozens of toggles, no feature gates, no upsell surfaces. The application has a small number of clearly defined states, each of which does exactly one thing.

Commitments
The product is defined by its constraints. These are architectural decisions, not feature gaps. They cannot be reversed without rebuilding the product from scratch.
No cloud storage
Your notes are encrypted and stored on your device. There is no server, no backup infrastructure, and no remote copy. If you lose your device without exporting, your notes are gone.
No account system
There is no sign-up, no email verification, no identity binding. Your passphrase is the only credential. We do not know who you are.
No passphrase recovery
If you forget your passphrase, your notes cannot be recovered. By anyone. This is not a limitation — it is the mechanism that guarantees zero-knowledge.
No sync or multi-device
Notes exist on one device at a time. You can export them manually via Markdown or encrypted archive. There is no automatic transfer between devices.
No AI or probabilistic features
The application is deterministic. It does not analyze your writing, suggest content, or process your text through any model — local or remote.
Important
RENVLO uses your passphrase to derive the encryption key that protects your notes. This key is generated on your device and never transmitted anywhere. We cannot access it, reset it, or recover it.
If you lose your passphrase, your notes are permanently inaccessible. There is no "forgot password" flow, no recovery email, and no support process that can restore access. This is the cost of genuine zero-knowledge architecture. Store your passphrase somewhere safe before you begin.
Biometric unlock (Face ID, fingerprint) is available as a convenience shortcut after initial passphrase entry. It does not replace the passphrase — it defers to it.
Data Ownership
RENVLO stores notes as Markdown — a plain text format with no proprietary encoding. You can export all your notes at any time as individual Markdown files or as a password-protected encrypted archive. There is no lock-in, no proprietary format, and no export restriction.
Your data belongs to you. That statement is architectural, not aspirational.
